Question 1

What does impact-rated mean for a St. Petersburg home?

Accepted Answer

Impact-rated means the window or door has been built and tested to resist wind-borne debris, the kind of flying material a coastal storm picks up, and to stay in the opening. It is a product rating, not a mood. Door & Co. will show you what that looks like at 3430 Fairfield Avenue South and talk about the rating that fits your wall. We do not print a code approval number on the website. If a specific approval matters to your house, we look it up on the product documents before anything is ordered.

Question 2

Should a Pinellas house use vinyl or aluminum windows?

Accepted Answer

Both are on the floor in St. Petersburg. Vinyl is a common replacement frame. Aluminum, including ES, is often the better discussion when the opening is large or the elevation already looks like metal. PGT, Weather Shield, JELD-WEN, and ActivWall are among the window lines we can put side by side. The wall, the size, and the exposure decide it. We will not pick a universal winner from the sidewalk.

Question 3

Do I need exact opening sizes before I ask for a quote?

Accepted Answer

No. A few photographs and a rough idea of the rooms are enough to start. Door & Co. measures before we order. Guessed widths from a listing or from memory are how the wrong unit gets specified, so we would rather book the visit at the Fairfield Avenue showroom or the measure at the house.
